Ph.D. Candidate Madeleine Gunter-Bassett Wins SAA Student Poster Award
Big congratulations are in order for Ph.D. candidate Madeleine Gunter Bassett who was recently awarded the prestigious Student Poster Award by the Society for American Archaeology. The poster is entitled Pastoralist Land Use and Mobility in the Horn of Africa: An Archaeological Predictive Model and presents Maddy's work with an ArcGIS-based predictive model for studying pastoralist decision-making in eastern Africa. See the image above from the SAA for additional details on Maddy's winning poster. As one of the largest and most well-attended archaeology conferences in existence, competition is stiff for such awards at the SAA, and so Maddy deserves major kudos for her achievement.
