Bio
Erin Barry received her BA in History and Women and Gender Studies from Boston College and her MA and Ph.D. from Washington University in St. Louis. Her research and teaching has focused on the history of pornography and obscenity in the United States in the 20th century, the Supreme Court, and the experiences of women and sexual minorities in the 1970s. Her dissertation focused on three Supreme Court cases dealing with the regulation of pornographic movie theaters in Jacksonville, Florida, Atlanta, Georgia, and Detroit, Michigan. She is also the author of works on sexual violence in Tijuana Bibles, pornographic comic books from the 1930s and 1940s.
