Biography
Admasu Shiferaw is associate professor at the Department of Economics at William & Mary. Before joined William & Mary in 2011, Admasu has been a research fellow at the Courant Research Center, University of Goettingen, and a lecturer at the International Institute of Social Studies, Erasmus University Rotterdam. His research interests are in microeconomic aspects of development economics and industry dynamics in the context of Sub-Saharan Africa. His research has contributed to a better understanding of firm behavior and dynamics in SSA and their implication for labor market outcomes. He is also affiliated with the Global Research Institute (GRI) and a member of the Africa Research Center (ARC) at William & Mary. Admasu has extensive experience in policy advisory services for international development organization including UN agencies and the World Bank. His courses address topics in development economics, African economic development, urbanization in developing countries, and entrepreneurship. Admasu received his undergraduate degree from Alemaya ( Haramaya) University, Ethiopia and his M.A. and Ph.D. in Development Economics from the International Institute of Social Studies, Erasmus University Rotterdam.
