Why W&M
My introduction to William & Mary, just over five years ago, began with my sister. She is a recent graduate of the college, and I always loved hearing about her experiences as part of this truly warm and unique community.
As I entered my first event at the start of the Virtual Finalist Experience, I was immediately struck by how passionate all of the scholars were about their interests. From sociolinguistics to organic chemistry, I could hear the excitement in their voices as they discussed their latest research projects. I was equally struck by how welcome and included I immediately felt. The scholars invited me into their conversations and were always willing to share friendly advice and answer my questions. Over the course of the week, I began to understand what it means to be a student at William & Mary. From a handwritten note from the admissions committee to the personalized information I received about my possible major and research opportunities to a virtual game night with current students, I realized that at William & Mary, I would not only be able, but encouraged to explore my wildest interests. I would be surrounded by fellow students who embraced and supported my love for learning. I'm so excited to join the William & Mary community.
