Interviews for High School Seniors
Put your personality into your application... literally.
Paper applications are two-dimensional. Interviews allow you the opportunity to make your application three-dimensional. Interviews are offered in the summer for rising high school seniors and in the fall for current high school seniors. The interview is an optional component to the application, and the absence of an interview will in no way be a disadvantage in the application process.
Interviews are intended to be casual and informative conversations that will last approximately 20-30 minutes and give you an opportunity to chat with a current W&M senior. No resume or portfolio needed.
Interviews Are Optional
Less than 20% of our applicants have an opportunity to interview. The absence of an interview will in no way harm or hinder your application. Additionally, given busy travel schedules and limited staff, we are unable to offer any additional interviews with staff members. Thank you so much for your understanding.
Summer Interviews
Interviews are offered weekdays from mid-June through mid-Aug. (except June 19 and July 3 and 4).
On-Campus interviews are offered Monday through Friday at 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.
Virtual interviews are offered on select Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m., 4 p.m. and 5 p.m.
Fall Interviews
Fall interviews will be offered mid-Sep. through mid-Nov. on a limited basis. Registration for fall interviews opens in September.
We encourage students to interview during the summer when more appointments are available. All students who wish to interview and apply Early Decision I should interview prior to the Nov. 1 application deadline.
Interview Waitlist
Interviews are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. If a particular interview appointment is full, you will have the option of adding yourself to the event waitlist. As cancellations arise, those on the waitlist will be automatically added to the appointment for which they are currently on the waitlist. An automated email will be sent to notify you that you have been removed from the waitlist and confirmed for the appointment.
