Transferring Credit

William & Mary recognizes that international students may arrive on campus having completed studies equivalent to college courses.

Am I eligible for transfer credit?

To be eligible for possible transfer credit, all students who have completed a 13-year secondary program or who have attended a university outside of the United States must submit translated syllabi for each thirteenth year or university course with their application for admission. Once these students have been admitted to William & Mary and have declared their intention to enroll, they may be required to send their academic credentials to the World Education Services no later than Jun. 1 for fall admission or Jan. 15 for spring admission.

What if my credentials have not been released?

The university understands that, for some students, final academic credentials will be unavailable until later in the summer (e.g. A-Levels which are taken in Jun. with results arriving in Aug.). In cases like these, students should submit their credentials for evaluation as soon as possible.

Can an external service evaluate my credit?

William & Mary will accept evaluations completed by other services. Obtaining an external evaluation does not ensure the awarding of credit. Transfer credit will be granted on an individual basis in keeping with the William & Mary faculty policy.
