Chris Ladnier - Vice President's Office
Core Value: Professional Excellence It is my pleasure to nominate Chris Ladnier for a Golden Griffin. In my short time working with Chris, I have observed in her the high expectations she sets for herself and others – expectations she achieves on a daily basis. On more than one occasion she has advocated on my behalf to ensure I received what I needed. She is always looking for ways to increase efficiency and better systems at the university. Chris' attention to detail is constantly on display. In one instance, she was required to go through a lengthy process 3 times to ensure it was done to the exact specifications others required. If she does not know an answer to a problem, she looks for the answer and provides feedback to individuals/departments to ensure they can easily find the information in the future. If a processes get stalled, she communicates where she is in the process and what to expect for a timeline. Chris is always willing to help others, smile, and share a kind word. She shows appreciation for the work others do and lets them know. She has proven to be a wonderful colleague and valuable resource on all things William & Mary.

Jennifer Leung and Jaymi Thomas - Student Leadership Development
Core Value: Professional Excellence Jen and Jaymi did an exceptional job launching and managing the Elevating Change Conference held on November 12. It was Student Leadership Development’s first hosted conference that included non-W&M students. As a result of their planning, we had a fantastic day of learning and leadership development sharing. We are so lucky to have two colleagues who sheparded the implementation of a GRAND new idea and managed all the associated details of a significant conference in such a professional way. It was an excellent day of leadership learning thanks to their efforts!

Jenny Fisher - Campus Recreation
Core Value: Student Centeredness Jenny is extremely dedicated to her students, but it has particularly shone through these past few weeks when one of the Fitness & Wellness supervisors ended up in the hospital. While the student was out, Jenny was very supportive and did everything she could to make sure she felt included in every decision. It was clear the student knew how much we all cared for her and missed her while she was out. Jenny always goes above and beyond to make our students feel included and part of the Campus Recreation family, and we are all extremely thankful to have her for a supervisor.

Cristen McQuillan - Cohen Career Center
Core Value: Professional Excellence Cristen exemplifies the Student Affairs value of Professional Excellence every day. The work she does and the relationships she cultivates create wonderful opportunities for students. Walk by her office, and you will see Cristen multi-tasking a non-stop stream of phone calls, a line of students with questions, and placing Cheese Shop orders for employer sponsors. She somehow manages it all with a smile on her face and takes the time to ensure each employer and student interviewee has everything they need for a successful day. In addition to managing the high traffic of on-campus recruiting (over 1,000 interviews each academic year), Cristen also wears an event planning hat with the career fairs, employer information sessions, Meet the Firms, and the Fall Recruiting Consortium in NYC. Cristen is at the heart of it all, managing student volunteers, confirming room sets, and even coordinating parking and shuttles! Her attention to detail with so many moving parts is impressive. She keeps the employer engagement arm of the Cohen Career Center running like a well-oiled machine.

Samantha Proctor - Campus Recreation
Core Value: Professional Excellence Sam recently supported her program area during a time of crisis, when her supervisor had to go on an unexpected medical leave. As a new GA, she handled the situation very well. In addition, she was selected to present at the National Intramural Recreation Sports Association (NIRSA) conference and has been nominated for recognition as a student leader in NIRSA on both the regional and national level.

Anne Strickland - Student Leadership Development
Core Value: Student Centeredness During Homecoming Weekend, Anne Strickland was called upon to support our Kappa Alpha chapter members as they grieved the death of their friend and brother. She quietly but steadfastly supported those members and made sure they were aware of all the resources ready to support and assist them. It was a particularly eventful interface for Anne as the newest staff member in fraternity/sorority life. She demonstrated a high level of care and concern for the members of a chapter that she had had little exposure/experience with in her first 2 months on campus. She did an exemplary job representing the value of Student Centeredness!

Terry Fassanella - Residence Life
Core Value: Professional Excellence I’ve known Terry for quite some time, and while he is always exceptional, during this past August he really, really impressed me with his willingness to go above and beyond to help his new colleagues, his constant energy, and overall positive attitude. Terry has a willingness to serve whenever he is called or needed in any capacity, no matter what the situation or time of day. It’s easy to get bogged down and lose perspective working 12 hour days for 20+ days straight. Terry kept a healthy perspective and shined not only in his area, but all areas. He truly helped make the transition for our new colleagues and students easier AND his light hearted, somewhat warped humor made a long month palatable for the seasoned staff. Terry role models servant leadership for his staff and students and carries himself ethically and with integrity. His leadership in Residence Life, Student Affairs, and William & Mary, is one of authenticity and care. Terry is not only a pleasure to work with, but his commitment to professional excellence is unsurpassed. He is very deserving of a Golden Griffin.
