W. Taylor Franklin
A pioneering leader in the development and management industry, Taylor Franklin co-founded The Franklin Group in 2012. He leads strategy for the multifamily development, investment and management firm headquartered in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Under his guidance, the company has grown its real estate portfolio and delivered positive year-over-year growth since 2012.
The Franklin Group has created more than 1,000 new jobs across eight states and developed more than 10,000 new multifamily units in Virginia and North Carolina. Even through a challenging economy, Mr. Franklin successfully financed and capitalized over $1.6 billion in projects. His passion for developing award-winning conventional and affordable communities has been recognized by Multifamily Leadership as a "Best Place to Work in Multifamily" and "Best Place to Work for Women in Multifamily" within several successive years.
Mr. Franklin has been named to the Power List for Inside Business, Virginia 500, Virginia Business, and as an Outstanding Emerging Philanthropist by the Association of Fundraising Professionals Hampton Roads. The Franklin Group is now the country's 12th largest affordable management company, servicing over 32,000 units that over 70,000 residents call home. It has established a strong, positive and diverse culture that values and empowers people.
Mr. Franklin graduated from Virginia Wesleyan University with a B.A. in history. His career and philanthropy are inspired by the work of his father, Wendell Franklin, in the multifamily business. In addition to serving on William & Mary's Board of Visitors, Mr. Franklin is chairman and president of the Board of Directors for the Chesapeake Bay Wine Classic and vice chair of the Virginia Beach Development Authority Board. Mr. Franklin is also a Tocqueville Society Member of the United Way of South Hampton Roads, chair of the Board of Norfolk Collegiate School, and a former member of the Board of Directors for the ACCESS College Foundation.
