From Slavery Toward Reconciliation: African Americans and the College
Spring Symposium on March 19, 2011
The symposium was hosted by the Lemon Project, a long-term, interdisciplinary research project exploring William & Mary’s 300-year relationship with African Americans in Williamsburg and the greater Tidewater area. This symposium brought together students, faculty, and community members to discuss ongoing research into our past, as well as the ways that history continues to define relationships between African Americans and the College in the present.

Directions
From campus:
Take Boundary Street north from campus (toward Aroma’s), and take a right onto Lafayette Street. Go through the Henry Street intersection. At the next four-way intersection (which doesn’t have a stop sign or a light), turn left onto Capitol Landing Road. Then make an immediate left again onto First Street. Parking is free, and will be on your left. Bruton Heights School is the large building on the right as you walk into the Education Center.
From I-64:
Take exit 238 for VA-143. If coming from 64 East, turn right at end of ramp. If coming from 64 West, turn left at end of ramp. Take 143 approximately 1.7 miles and bear right onto Capitol Landing Road. Turn right onto First Street. Parking is free, and will be on your left. Bruton Heights School is the large building on the right as you walk into the Education Center.
