Gates Forums
As a way to honor the legacy of Chancellor Robert M. Gates, William & Mary and the Gates Global Policy Center (GGPC) convene the Gates Forum, a series of discussions and workshops driven by academic research on a topic of national importance.
Each year, 15-20 senior government and industry leaders gather in Williamsburg, Virginia, to attend discussions chaired by Chancellor Gates. The Gates Forums run for two days, drawing upon the real-world experience of conferees and the best available research to diagnose the challenge, consider a range of possible response options, and articulate a nonpartisan roadmap for improvements in U.S. policy moving forward.
The first Gates Forum was held in December 2022 and tackled the issue of U.S. strategic communications. The second Gates Forum will be held in December 2023, analyzing U.S. economic assistance.
