Trips & Treks

Fall
Wall Street Trip

This popular program takes approximately 20 William & Mary sophomores (with a GPA of 3.25 or higher) interested in careers in investment banking, trading systems and risk management platforms, hedge funds and asset management to visit companies in New York City and helps prepare them to be competitive for internships and ultimately for full-time employment. This program is not limited by major and all students interested in the field are welcome to apply to attend.

A Day in DC

Every year, during fall break, the Office of Career Development & Professional Engagement arranges a series of site visits to the workplaces of W&M alumni who are working at federal agencies, think tanks, public sector consulting firms, and nonprofit organizations. This experience is a great way to discover what it is like to work in these organizations and to ask questions about pursuing various career pathways in Washington D.C.

Creative Careers Trek to DC

This program allows students interested in creative careers (marketing, advertising, public relations, journalism, media, etc.) to visit companies/organizations and meet with alumni to help inform possible career options in creative industries. Past topics have included entertainment and media, marketing and advertising, museums, public relations and communications, and performing arts. This program is not limited by major or class year and all students interested are welcome to attend.

Spring

Tech Trek

This annual trek usually takes place in the spring semester and features employers and alumni in the technology sector. It has been planned as a trip to the San Francisco/Bay Area as well as a virtual "road trip" to several tech hubs across the country.
