Tribe fan guide for the CAA men's basketball championship

Join the March to the Tournament. Winners of five straight and the most regular-season victories since 1950, William & Mary men's basketball is the No. 2 seed in the 2020 Hercules Tires Colonial Athletic Association Men's Basketball Championship.

W&M, which tied a school record with 13 CAA wins, faces the winner of No. 7 seed Elon and No. 10 seed James Madison in the third quarterfinal on Sunday, March 8, at 6 p.m. The four-day tournament will be held March 7-10 at the Entertainment and Sports Arena in Washington, D.C. Below is a fan guide with all the information for the Tribe faithful leading up to the Tournament.

Entertainment and Sports Arena Bag Policy
Only bags that are smaller than 14"x 14" are permitted at the Entertainment and Sports Arena and all bags will be searched upon entry. Events DC reserves the right to confiscate items within the arena that may cause a danger or disruption to the event or to other guests. The Entertainment and Sports Arena will not check or store any prohibited item.  Visit the Entertainment and Sports Arena for Attendee Information.

While not required for the facility, W&M Athletics and the W&M Alumni Association will have clear bags available for fans at the Tribe's pregame events.

Prohibited Items at the Entertainment and Sports Arena
  • Weapons of any kind (guns, knives, chains, spikes, projectiles, tasers, pepper spray, ammunition, etc.)
  • Balloons, Frisbees, Inflatable Toys, Confetti Streamers
  • Cans, bottles, or coolers
  • Food and beverages
  • Illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia, and flammable lighters of any kind
  • Laser pointers
  • Luggage, roller bags or bags larger than 13" long, 9.5" tall, and 6" wide; ALL backpacks are prohibited.
  • Monopods, tripods or selfie sticks
  • Noisemakers such as can operated air horns, sirens, whistles, drums, etc.
  • Animals (other than service animals)
  • Sticks or poles of any kind
  • Wrapped gifts
  • Professional Video and audio recording devices, Go Pros
  • Fireworks of any kind
  • Adhesive stickers of any kind
  • Umbrellas larger than 14 inches closed.
W&M Alumni Association Gatherings in Washington, D.C.
On Saturday, kick off the CAA Men's Basketball Tournament in D.C. with fellow alumni, parents, family and friends! Wear your green & gold and show your Tribe Pride at Blackfinn (1620 I St. NW Washington, DC 20006) from 2-5 p.m. This event is made possible by the William & Mary Alumni Association, D.C. Metro Alumni Network and Washington Area Alumni Business Alliance (WAABA). Tickets are $15 each and include one drink ticket and appetizers. Register for the event through the W&M Alumni Association.

The Alumni Association will also host pregame gatherings prior to each Tribe game in the tournament, beginning on Sunday, March 8, at 2:30 p.m. before the Tribe's quarterfinal. The events will be held at W&M's Tournament headquarters, the Melrose Georgetown Hotel (2430 Pennsylvania Ave NW, Washington, DC 20037). Tribe fans will also have the chance to send the team off to the Entertainment and Sports Arena. Complimentary appetizers will be provided and there will be a cash bar. Register for the event through the W&M Alumni Association.

Tickets
Fans can purchase tickets for the 2020 Hercules Tires CAA Championship through TicketMaster. Fans can visit TicketMaster.com or call the Entertainment and Sports Arena box office (202-437-4591) for single-session tickets. The Tribe's allocated sections for the tournament are 107, 112, 113, 203, and 204. Tribe fans that have not yet purchased tickets are encouraged to find seats close to those sections.

Students Tickets
CAA member students can purchase a ticket to their school's session for $5 with valid school ID on the day of game through the Entertainment and Sports Arena Box Office. Students will need to pay regular adult prices if he/she plans to attend a session other than their schools.

The first 64 students from each institution will be provided a color-coded wristband which will allow them to sit in Section 101 and 111 behind their team's band for their game only. Any students above the initial 64 will be seated in the 200 level depending on availability. Once the courtside students' game is over, we will ask the students sitting courtside to move to the 200 level to watch the other game of the session.

Television

CBS Sports Network will televise the 2020 CAA Tournament semifinals and championship, while first-round games and quarterfinals will be broadcast on FloHoops. The semifinals will be at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Monday, March 9, on CBS Sports Network with CAA Championship game set for 7 p.m. on Tuesday night on CBS Sports Network.
