Wittman, students to hold town hall on global poverty
The event will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. in the Williamsburg Regional Library Theatre. William & Mary Government Professor Mike Tierney will serve as the moderator.
The discussion is cosponsored by the College's Office of Student Volunteer Services and the ONE organization, a grassroots campaign and advocacy group "backed by more than 2 million people who are committed to the fight against extreme poverty and preventable disease, particularly in Africa," according to its Web site.
Lauren Conn ('06), who helped organize the event, currently serves as a field organizer for ONE in Virginia. The event grew out of a meeting that ONE organizers had with Wittman in February.
Wittman serves Virginia's first district, which runs from Poquoson to northern Fauquier County. He recently visited William & Mary to meet with students in a class on the economic aspects of biotechnology.
