Richard Bland College presidential search committee to host forums
The Richard Bland College presidential search committee will hold its first meeting at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2011. Later that same day, the committee will also host two separate forums to gather input from the campus community to help inform the search. A forum for students will be held from 1-2 p.m. A forum for faculty and staff will be held from 2:30-3:30 p.m.
Dennis W. Liberson, chair of the administration committee of the Board of Visitors, is leading the search to find the successor to James B. McNeer. McNeer, who has been an integral part of Richard Bland’s faculty and administration for more than four decades – and has served as its president since 1996 – announced earlier this year he would retire June 30, 2012. The committee includes two additional members of the Board of Visitors as well as a Richard Bland alumnus, member of the Foundation Board, and a student and faculty representative.
Officially a branch of the College of William & Mary, the Petersburg school is the state’s only junior college.
The search committee meeting, which is open to the public, will be held in the Board room of the Richard Bland College Library, located at 11301 Johnson Road. The campus forums will be held in the library’s conference room.
Members of the public can also send comments on the search via email to Ed Betts at ebetts@rbc.edu. Betts, former superintendant of Petersburg City Schools, serves as secretary of the committee.
