Open forums for vice provost for international affairs

Provost Michael Halleran sent the following message to the campus community Jan. 28 - Ed.

Over the next several weeks, candidates for the position of Vice Provost for International Affairs and Director of the Reves Center will be visiting the campus.  Each one of them presents excellent credentials and backgrounds, and I am excited about their upcoming visits.  The search committee has done great work in coming up with this list of finalists.

In addition to meetings with various groups—faculty, Reves Center staff, deans, search committee members, administrators—each candidate will also hold a forum open to the entire campus community.  I realize that schedules are busy, but I hope you will be able to attend these sessions.  The times and dates for the first two sessions are:

Ethan Kapstein           Wednesday, February 2 at 3:30 p.m., Chesapeake A
Steve Hanson              Monday, February 7 at 4:00 p.m., The Great Hall
Riall Nolan                   Thursday, February 10 at 4:00 p.m., The Great Hall
Michael Allen              Tuesday, February 15 at 4:00 p.m., Tidewater A
Linda Malone              Thursday, February 17 at 3:30 p.m., Tidewater A

You can access each candidate’s CV at http://www.wm.edu/vpiasearch/.  A link to a “candidate evaluation form” will be available next week.  I invite your comments, as they will be valuable to the President and me in selecting the next Vice Provost for International Affairs and Director of the Reves Center.  Please note that although the evaluation form requires a login with W&M, this is only to ensure that it is limited to members of the W&M community; the comments themselves are anonymous.  Thank you for your participation in this important process.

Please note that an announcement about the remaining finalists will be made next week.
