Campus safety message
Anna Martin, vice president for administration and chair of the Emergency Management Team, sent the following message to the campus community on Aug. 22, 2011 - Ed.
Dear William & Mary
community,
This afternoon the William & Mary Police responded to a call concerning a male suspect involved in lewd behavior while sitting in a car in the parking lot of the Law School. The suspect did not confront anyone in the parking lot and was gone before officers arrived. Police continue to investigate. According to the witness, the suspect is described as a white male with sandy brown hair. He was well dressed and appeared to be 30-40 years old. The vehicle had Virginia tags and was described by witnesses as a silver Nissan hatchback.
My purpose in writing is two-fold. First is to caution you that there may be someone in the Williamsburg area who is acting in an inappropriate manner. As we start the school year, please be aware of your surroundings. Second, if you see a person meeting the suspect and his vehicle’s description or experience anything suspicious, please call the William & Mary Police at 757-221-4596 immediately.
Thank you.
Anna B. Martin
