Sociology Courses
Sociologists investigate the structure of groups, organizations, and societies and how people interact within these contexts. Since all human behavior is social, the subject matter of sociology ranges widely, from the intimate family to international markets; from organized crime to religious traditions; from the divisions of race, gender, immigration and social class to the shared beliefs within societal cultures. Our courses reflect this breadth and diversity.

Course Numbering Update
Sociology course numbers have recently changed. Use the equivalency table below to determine how previous SOCL courses correspond to their new SOCI numbers.
Please note:
- Paired courses are equivalent.
- If you have taken a course under the previous SOCL number, it will count as the corresponding SOCI course.
- If you have taken a course under its previous number, you should not take the equivalent course under the new number.
- If your degree requires a SOCL course and you cannot find it in PATH, look for the corresponding SOCI course — it will fulfill the requirement.
- Listing a course below does not guarantee that it will be offered in a given semester. Please consult PATH for current scheduling information.
