Important Registration Update -End of Waitlist 8/23

Summary

Updates for continuing students regarding registration, the end of waitlists and the final fall 2024 add/drop period. See the email sent on 8/8/24 to all undergraduate students.

Full Description

Please note – the following update applies only to continuing and returning students.

Good afternoon,

On behalf of the A&S Dean’s Office, the Office of Undergraduate Academic Affairs, and the Office of the University Registrar, we want to give a brief update now during the last add/drop period before the start of the semester. Here is some additional information to help you plan, including the conclusion of waitlists at the end of this add/drop period on Friday, August 23 at 12:00 p.m. (all times are eastern).

What should I do during this add/drop period?
  • If you do not wish to make any changes to your schedule, no action is required right now!
  • Add courses with open seats to satisfy full-time requirements (at least 12 credits hours).
  • If you received an “instructor permission” override from an instructor, you can add that course to your schedule. View overrides posted by instructors for you on the "Check Your Registration Status" page in  Banner Self-Service
  • Continue to monitor your email daily for waitlist notifications.
  • If you are on a waitlist and no longer want that course, please remove yourself from the waitlist.
  • If you are a senior and have applied to graduate: if you get a waitlist notification during this add/drop period for a course you must take but which will increase your credit hour load to 17 or 18 credit hours, complete this form which will go directly to an advisor for review.
  • Emails are monitored from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and no changes can be made once your waitlist window has closed.
Waitlists will Close Friday, August 23

To make the most seats available to students during the final add/drop period and reduce classes missed at the start of the semester, waitlists will close on Friday, August 23 at 12:00 p.m.

What does this mean?

  • The last waitlist notifications will be sent on August 22, expiring by noon on August 23.
  • Once waitlists are concluded, waitlist enrollment will be removed and you will no longer be on a waitlist.  The courses will remain in your cart with a blue cart icon.
  • Check regularly for open seats during the final add/drop period August 27 at 1:00 p.m. - September 9 at 11:59 p.m., register for any available seats and attend class.
 What are my next steps?
  • If you wish to make schedule changes, add/drop is open until 12:00 p.m.(noon) on Friday, August 23 and then will reopen from August 27 at 1:00 p.m. to September 9 at 11:59 p.m.
  • We are sending out more frequent waitlist notifications to help fill open seats during this time. If you no longer need a course you are on a waitlist for, please remove yourself from that waitlist.
  • If you have concerns about an outstanding major or minor requirement needed this fall or spring, reach out to the department chair or program director. Although they cannot provide maximum capacity overrides, they can support you by looking at:
    • Alternative courses in the fall to meet an outstanding requirement
    • Spring offerings that would meet the requirement
    • Potential substitutions in the fall or spring for the requirement
  • Once this add/drop period closes, the next opportunity to register will be during the final add/drop period August 27 at 1:00 p.m. - September 9 at 11:59 p.m.
  • Most students may register for up 18 credit hours during the final add/drop period (exceptions include students on academic probation).
  • Reminder, waitlists will no longer be available during this final add/drop period.
 Recommendations and Reminders
  • Faculty and staff cannot provide max capacity overrides, modify a waitlist, or register you in courses.
  • Your faculty advisor and the professional advisors in the Office of Undergraduate Academic Affairs (OUAA) are always available to help you plan your schedule and think through options to meet your requirements.
  • To help you plan, a draft of the spring 2025 schedule will be viewable on Monday, August 19. Although this is subject to change, it may help plan for courses this fall.

 Incoming students

The registration process will stay the same as communicated in the Tribe Guide Checklist.

Thank you for your patience as we work on establishing this new registration process,

Sent on behalf of the A&S Dean’s Office, Office of Undergraduate Academic Affairs, & The Office of the University Registrar
