Peer Advising Program
During the summer, Peer Advisors serve as guides and mentors for new first-year and transfer students. They also help to administer the summer College Studies online course.
Peer Advisor Support for New Incoming Students:
A Peer Advisor is a student leader who works with the Office of Undergraduate Academic Affairs to assist you before and during registration. The Peer Advisor is an upper division student at W&M and can offer tips and strategies from an insider's point of view. The Peer Advisors support the advising process for new students by:
- Providing leadership and fostering a network of peer support
- Serving as role models who can provide information about curricular and co-curricular opportunities at W&M
- Informing new students about policies and procedures
- Teaching new students how to schedule classes and how to register
- Helping new students prepare for meetings with their faculty advisors
- Supporting the Office of Undergraduate Academic Affairs staff and faculty advisors
