Need money to put on an event? The Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies program funds various events on and around campus.
Vox: Voices for Planned Parenthood
Mission Statement
Vox is the Latin word for "voice." Through Vox, college students across the country organize events on campus to raise public awareness about reproductive rights, educate young people at concerts about sexual health, work with and support their local Planned Parenthood health centers, and mobilize advocates of reproductive freedom.

Essence: Women of Color
Mission Statement
Historically, women of color have been ignored and have not received the support necessary to develop self-love. For that reason, Essence was formed in order to rebuild and recreate a community for women of color on campus.

FMLA
William & Mary's Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance (which is a mouthful--so just call it FMLA for short!) originally started out as the Feminist Student Organization (FS0). In the spring of 2002, however, the FSO decided to officially align itself with the national Feminist Majority Foundation and thus became the FMLA. The FMLA, like its predecessor, is an organization dedicated to furthering the causes of women and of equality between all people, at W&M and beyond.

Winged Nation
Mission statement
Winged Nation is the proud product of a women's community at William & Mary. Our publication provides opportunities to share our unique perspectives, and to explore female existence in a society that has consistently undervalued our contributions to the world of creative expression.
Some Further Information
Winged Nation is an independent organization that accepts male and female staff members and submissions. Publication is once a year, and the organization does not yet receive funding from the College. As a result, the organization must raise enough money to cover publication costs.
Lambda Alliance
Mission statement
Lambda Alliance was founded in 1971 as an activist organization for gay students. Since then, it has diligently served the needs of the College's GLBTQ population. In addition to weekly meetings where we discuss a variety of issues relevant to gay students, we also sponsor National Coming Out Day, Day of Silence, and the ever-popular and ever-fabulous Drag Ball.
