Supplementary Application Materials
Biology Supplemental Application FormAdvice and Considerations
In addition to submitting material described in the main application procedures, we strongly encourage applicants to contact potential research advisors. Getting the support of a faculty member can substantially affect acceptance decision into our program. Potential advisors should also be indicated on the supplemental application form that is to be submitted to the Biology Department's Director of Graduate Studies separately from your main application.
Applications may be submitted at any time. However, to be guaranteed consideration for admission into our programs in August with the financial support of a teaching assistantship, application forms and materials must be received by February 1.
Our most common form of financial assistance is a teaching assistantship, which carries both a stipend and tuition waver. Students who remain in good academic standing and satisfactorily carry out their assigned duties are eligible for up to four consecutive semesters of teaching assistantship support. Teaching assistantships are awarded without regard to track; however, M.A. students are not eligible for summer support. Loans and part-time employment are also available to some students. Many students also secure grants and external support to supplement their stipend.
