  3. Faculty Assembly
    The purpose of the Assembly is to advise the President and the Provost on matters affecting the welfare of the university and to ensure effective faculty participation in the governance of the university as a whole.
  4. Family Engagement
    Family Engagement facilitates and advocates for the role of family involvement in community development and individual student success. The department provides resources and activities that connect families with each other and with the W&M community.
  5. Family Weekend
    This annual event features a wide variety of family-friendly activities and special programs that you can enjoy together with your W&M student or on your own.
  6. 50th Anniversary of African Americans in Residence
    William & Mary commemorated the 50th anniversary of the first African American students in residence with a year-long series of special events, guest speakers and performances, beginning with Convocation weekend in August, 2017, and continuing through Commencement in May 2018.
  7. Film & Media Studies
    Film & media studies (FMST) involves the description, analysis and interpretation not only of media content (e.g. narratives, images, sounds, and information) but media forms and practices – especially as these shape and alter the content. FMST undergraduate students thereby learn how to be more thoughtful consumers and effective producers of media.
  8. Financial Aid Office
    William & Mary provides quality undergraduate, graduate and professional education at affordable prices. The Financial Aid Office is dedicated to helping students and families meet the costs that are beyond individual and family resources.
  9. Financial Operations
    Financial Operations is responsible for providing comprehensive accounting, bursar and payroll services in support of the university's primary mission of education, research and public service.
  10. Financial Reporting
    The Financial Reporting department is responsible for the preparation of the annual consolidated financial statements, and the schedule of federal assistance by federal, state and industry guidelines.
  11. Financial Systems
    The Financial Systems department ensures that all accounting records are appropriately documented and accurately recorded within the university's finance system.
  12. First Generation Student Engagement, Office of
    The Office of First Generation Student Engagement is dedicated to supporting first-generation undergraduate students with tailored resources, guidance and community-building opportunities. We empower students to thrive academically, socially, and personally through advocacy, engagement and a strong sense of belonging.
  13. Fixed Assets Management
    The Fixed Assets Management staff manages all financial reporting of fixed assets, including equipment, land, buildings, infrastructure, construction-in-progress, and leased or lease/financed equipment and surplus property.
  14. Fraternity & Sorority Life
    In 1776, five students at William & Mary founded Phi Beta Kappa, the first organization to call itself a fraternity. Since that time, fraternities and sororities have evolved, but still remain committed to similar principles and values, such as scholarship, service, brotherhood/sisterhood and leadership.
  15. French & Francophone Studies
    Francophone culture is rich and varied. It spans the globe: from France to the Indian Ocean, Africa, Vietnam, the Caribbean, and North America. Our undergraduate students gain the language skills and cultural understanding necessary to navigate the French-speaking world with confidence.
