Third Eye Blind to perform Charter Day concert
Rock band Third Eye Blind will play the second annual Charter Day concert on Feb. 4, 2012, in William & Mary Hall, representatives from the Student Assembly (SA) and Alma Mater Productions (AMP) announced Saturday night.
The concert announcement came during the College’s annual Yule Log ceremony, the last tradition of the fall semester before Charter Day, the first tradition of the spring semester.
Tickets will be available to both the campus community and public in January via the AMP website.
Since the band formed in the early 1990s, Third Eye Blind has released four studio albums, including 2009’s “Ursa Major.” They are known for chart-topping songs including “Semi-Charmed Life,” Jumper” and “How’s It Gonna Be.” They’ve won a Billboard Music Award and received nominations for two American Music Awards.
Charter Day celebrates the day on which the College received its royal charter. In recent years, the university recast the event as a birthday celebration for the school, featuring new aspects – including an annual concert – to garner additional student interest.
The opening act for the 2012 Charter Day concert will be announced in the weeks leading up the event.
