D.C. Summer Institute (DCSI) fellows earn 7 W&M credits through this academic program, composed of an accelerated course that involves networking with experts and alums through guest lectures and site visits—and working in an internship at a related D.C. institution.
Institute topics are decided by the Departments and Schools that offer them. It is possible that they will change or that other topics will be offered in addition to these in future summers.
Summer 2025 D.C. Summer Institutes will be:
- Representation in American Democracy
- This institute is at capacity and closed
- Authentic Leadership
- Public Health
*Courses offered subject to change.
Who can apply?
The Institutes are open to all undergraduate students! Institute fellows engage in classroom and hands-on learning while experiencing the dynamic institutions of the Washington, D.C. area firsthand. Participating fellows are assisted in finding an internship and provided extensive counseling on how to succeed in that internship. Learn more about the Institutes.
