Projects completed in 2023-2024
Kaplan Arena Wifi ExpansionDesign and build additional wifi coverage in and around Kaplan Arena. Project included modernizing the wi-fi infrastructure and amping-up network capacity by installing 111 wireless access points, covering the seating areas, the concourse, the locker rooms and the offices. |
Blackboard UltraW&M transitioned from Blackboard's Original Courses to Ultra Courses. This view is a more modern and adaptable learning management design and will establish a more contemporary and student-friendly learning environment. |
Courseleaf PATHIn partnership with W&M University Registrar, IT assisted in implementing this new course registration system. |
QlikW&M replaced its legacy reporting system, Discoverer, with Qlik, a more robust report and data discovery tool to support campus in using data to make more informed decisions. |
Science DMZDesigned and implemented a Science DMZ in accordance with the National Science Foundation guidelines. |
Diversity Analytics & VisualizationsDesign, build and support Diversity Analytics and Visualizations working with DEI and communication teams. |
ERP EvaluationIT conducted two separate on-campus demos from Ellucian and Workday in an effort to evaluate the best options for the university's Enterprise Resource Planning platform. There were 34 sessions attended by numerous people from across campus, and feedback was taken from attendees. |
Digital Learning Environment EvaluationW&M Information Technology (IT) and the Studio for Teaching & Learning Innovation (STLI) partnered to explore and evaluate William & Mary’s current and aspirational Digital Learning Environment. This collaboration aimed to inform a university-wide approach to adopting digital tools and resources such as our learning management systems or academic technologies. |
Law School LMS TransitionW&M IT's Application Administration team led an effort to modernize the W&M Law School's learning management system by shifting from myLaw to Blackboard as early adopters of Blackboard Ultra Courses. The new course design delivers a modern and intuitive experience for students. |
Teams CallsCampus telephones were moved to Microsoft Teams. The phone service through Teams (named "Teams Calls") provides a modern telephone experience that offers enhanced usability, robust accessibility, and device flexibility. It has the added benefit of reduced telecommunications costs and leverages the Teams platform, which has already emerged as a central hub for collaboration at William & Mary. |
PaperCutMoving to PaperCut enables students to map to a single print queue instead of one for each lab printer. This drastically simplifies the setup and allows students to swipe their Tribe Card at any of our print release stations on campus to print their print job. It also allows students to pay using their W&M Express funds, rather than getting billed later. |
Banner 9Banner 9 Self-Service apps deliver new functionality to the W&M community. While there is no retirement date set for Banner 8 Self-Service, W&M IT is actively working with functional offices that have an interest in testing and going live with Banner 9 Self-Service apps. |
