For more than two decades, Chon Glover has been building and supporting a fully diverse campus community. In her role as chief diversity officer, she advances her self-ascribed calling of educating people and helping them understand how we are more alike than we are different. She’s always had a passion for creating opportunities for those who are  marginalized, and works tirelessly to make William & Mary an inclusive place. Chon began her career at the university in 1996 as the assistant director of multicultural affairs. In 1999, she was promoted to director of multicultural affairs, and in 2004, she became the director of multicultural affairs and assistant to the president. Four years later, she served as the interim assistant vice president for student affairs.

In 2010, she assumed her current position as chief diversity officer, in which she is responsible for university-wide diversity, equity and inclusion work, including overseeing the implementation of the Inclusive Excellence Framework plan and leading a team of university colleagues on academic diversity initiatives. In addition, she has served as an adjunct professor in the School of Education. Chon has made it her mission to help ensure William & Mary is a place of belonging, respect and inclusivity where all members of the community can thrive and flourish, in and out of the classroom.
